General Grant Information

The mission of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment. Affiliates of the Komen Foundation represent one of the nation’s largest private funding sources for breast health and breast cancer screening, education, and treatment support programs.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Komen Central New York Affiliate is dedicated to fighting breast cancer in 17 counties in Central New York. Each year, Komen CNY awards grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and awareness programs to medically underserved women, from mammograms in St. Lawrence county, to education provided by an outreach worker traveling more than 100 miles in Rochester, to breast health counseling for victims of domestic violence in Utica and Rome. Komen CNY will this year award $401,000 to the fight against breast cancer.

The Central New York Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. is currently offering grants for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, treatment and support projects targeting services not otherwise available to the medically underserved populations of the Central New York service area.  A list of counties included in the Central New York Service Area is attached to this Request for Proposal.  Grants are available for up to one (1) year.
