Speakers Bureau
Komen CNY is committed to raise awareness about breast cancer in the community. Toward that end, we will soon be featuring a Speakers Bureau. The Affiliate will train a core group of skilled and enthusiastic volunteers who will be ready to spread the word about the fight against breast cancer through free Breast Health Workshops and/or Seminars.

Workshops will cover many areas of breast health and breast cancer topics. They will be appropriate for different populations, including middle school through college age students, diverse ethnic groups, young mothers, working women, and women of retirement age.

An Invitation to Join the Komen CNY Speakers Bureau

For those I have not personally met, I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Livvy Kronhaus, and I am the Education Coordinator for the Central New York Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Komen Mission is to eradicate breast cancer through research, education, screening, and treatment. To this end, Komen is forming a Komen Speakers’ Bureau and Education Committee. 

The Speakers’ Bureau would be comprised of diverse members of the community including survivors, health care professionals, and enthusiastic volunteers.  I would like to invite you to become a member of this group. 

A Komen Speakers’ Bureau will be offering a valuable service to the community – an opportunity to schedule programs for their internal audiences (employees, parents, schools, etc.) about the importance of breast cancer early detection presented by well-trained, knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers of the Komen Foundation. 

Komen CNY will have training sessions to orient members to the Komen Foundation, expectations and resources, breast health information, and instruction on presentation skills.  All we ask is for you to determine if you have a strong interest in the breast health field and the Komen Foundation, comfort in speaking in front of an audience, enthusiasm, reliable transportation, and a few available hours.  Komen CNY will provide you with any and all materials and resources that you will need. 

Training Sessions will be scheduled several times throughout the year. The sessions will take place on the third floor cafeteria at Hematology-Oncology Associates of CNY at 5008 Brittonfield Parkway, East Syracuse, NY. Light refreshments will be served. I know your time is a priceless commodity, and I plan to use it wisely and well.  I do hope you will consider joining the Komen Speakers’ Bureau.
