The Central
New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
was created in 1991 and was run solely by volunteers. Today, we
have a full-time Executive Director and Administrative Assistant and a part-time Education Coordinator.
The Central
New York Affiliate has awarded several million dollars to
non-profit breast health care organizations in Central New
York. In 1996 the Komen CNY Affiliate awarded 10 grants totaling
$48,000. In April 2009, the Affiliate awarded $440,000 to
agencies in 17 counties throughout the Affiliate service area.
Since it’s creation, the CNY Affiliate
has provided over $3.9 million in grant funding for community
breast health care programs.
The Komen CNY Affiliate is proud of its 400+ loyal volunteers that
lead its education and fundraising initiatives. |

In 1995, the
Komen CNY Race for the Cure®, the Affiliate’s premier fundraiser
raised $76,000. In 2008, the Komen CNY Race attracted over
8,000
registered participants and raised more than $700,000 with expenses
held at 12%! |
